Himlayang Pilipino [25July10]

It's been two weeks since I last used my camera and it was a good thing that we went to the cemetery to visit my grandma's grave. Himlayang Pilipino, located in Tandang Sora Quezon City, boasts of its rich Filipino heritage where it houses the shrines of two of the Philippine National Heroes, Melchora Aquino (Tandang Sora) and Gen. Emilio Jacinto. The place also displays art pieces, such as stone/brass sculptures depicting Filipino culture/history, Baltazar's Florante and Laura, and the legend of Malakas and Maganda among others.*

I now share what other photographers hate when shooting, getting halted by the guards. Its a good thing I already finished when they asked me to secure a permit. I really don't understand why they require a permit to shoot in a cemetery, where there's no one (for sure) who'll plan to blow the place up. Anyway, hope you enjoy some of my shots. It's quite a few since I was in a hurry due to the rain. Ciao! XD

Wildboyz : The Quezon Project [10-11July2010]

On our second year photo-trip anniversary, we spent the past weekend in Quezon Province. The original Wildboyz, Mot, Ryan, Raymond and I, welcomed our fellow high school buddy Mykko in an unforgettable adventure filled with burn-sessions, gastronomic challenges, tests of physical and mental endurance, and of course, non-stop laughter.

Our first stop was in Taytay Falls in Majayjay, (we like to pronounce it as Ma-jey-jey for a masculine feel) Laguna. I can't believe we survived after passing through the treacherous steep and unfinished roads, meeting town-folks armed with bolos (HUGE knife), and hiking for 15 minutes with no lights in the path. After seeing the waterfall and the rocks, we completely forgot all our stress and hunger, so we quickly set-up our gears and started shooting.

We reached the Tayabas proper around 730pm and hurriedly went to Mot's Aunt's place to leave our things and eat dinner. I am thankful that I still live after meeting the Hounds of Hell in the house (Owner: Mot, wag mo muna buksan yung gate baka kainin sila). I think the writer of Resident Evil movie also went there and got the idea of T-virus injected dogs that eats whatever flesh it can see. Then, we ate at Mi Casa de Tayabas and ordered lots and lots (and lots and loooots) of food, then went back to watch Taken in DVD.

The boyz woke up at 4am and immediately went to Malagonlong Bridge, one of the oldest bridge (160 years old) in the Philippines. It was hard to pass through the rocks because everything was unstable and slippery so I wasn't able to take many pictures. The fun began when we photo-tripped in the middle of the new highway bridge, where we needed to avoid all incoming traffic (composed of trucks, cars, motorcycles, bicycles and a police car). We did many poses in the middle of the road but the highlight shot of the day was our unique group jumping shot courtesy of Ryan's cam.

Since Mot attended another photo-shoot, the remaining Wildboyz went back to the HQ at around 9am for another movie trip (The Crazies) , and since its movie time, we bought a half gallon Nestle Baby Ruth flavored ice cream to enhance our bum experience. After we had our well-deserved siesta, we ate lunch (at around 5pm) in Kamayan sa Palaisdaan and ordered lots and lots (and lots and lots) of food, again.

Our Quezon Project was a very memorable experience. Nothing beats bro-bonding that shares a common passion for photography, music and eating. I hope we can continue this tradition to inspire others and bring in new members because as the saying goes, "the more, the manyer.

Indie Action Scene

Romance in Korea

This is why I love Korean movies/soaps, they can even make a beautiful love story in less than 8 minutes. This video kinda reminded me of My Sassy Girl but with a brutal taste. Great soundtrack also, which made an emotional impact on the vid.

I highly recommend watching "A Moment to Remember". It tops my tear-jerker movies of all time. Waah ~_~

New Addiction

I played Lazer Tag Extreme with my HS buds last night in Alabang Town Center. It was a great experience, the the hunter-prey-hunter feel of the game really makes your adrenaline pump. My shooting skills by playing endless hours of CounterStrike and planned out strategies by watching too many war movies have been finally applied to real life!

Rates are P170 per game every weekdays and P190 for weekends.  There's a discount of P20 every consecutive game played. One game is 20mins long, 5mins for briefing, 15mins for game play. You might think that its too short but its not! The game will really make you sweat it out. The setting has this futuristic feel, like the one in Starship Troopers movie. There are sliding doors and separate rooms for the briefing room and the armory. The eye-candy arena is a big 2-floor maze with intergalactic theme using neon lights. You can snipe from above or strike through the obstacles below.

 We first tried the Free-for-all game because there were only 4 of us playing on the available time slot. Then we scheduled again for the Team Death-match game. Team game vs strangers is better and more enjoyable than solo free-for-all because you can cover your teammates, make strategies, and defend a sweet spot for multiple kills. It was funny that we always tag the kids since they were always clumped up in one place.

I'll surely apply for a membership, P900 for 2 free games, a free birthday game, and personal gun name is really worth it. The enjoyment and the calories lost (it was VERY exhausting) are worth more than what you pay for. You can check out their website for more details.
